The flag-off of the Police Welfare Housing Scheme was done on the 16th November, 2018, at the Ibrahim Kpotun Idris Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State. The housing initiative which is dedicated to the improvement of the welfare of the Nigeria Police through our bank, marks a watershed in the history of home-ownership in Nigeria.
This landmark development is a demonstration of our vision to provide quality and affordable houses in all state capitals in the country, starting from Ibadan with 500 units, Lagos Metropolis with 6000 units and Giri Abuja with 1000 units, dedicated to the police welfare project.
Land acquisition in Kano, Katsina, Jos, Ilorin and Ado-Ekiti is currently being processed while projects in Lagos, Portharcourt and Abuja are preliminary stages. The estates would be provided with adequate supplies of electricity and water as well as facilities for waste management and central gas system.

The management of Cooperative Mortgage Bank said it had set a target of raising its performance level in the finance industry by sourcing for ₦5bn through shareholders’ fund and reaching the goal of ₦12bn balance sheet by the year 2020.
A director of the bank, Mr. Oluwole Okunuga, stated this during the opening ceremony of the Bank’s Quarterly Retreat held at the Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State as part of the activities to marks its 25th year anniversary.
Okunugu said, “The theme of the retreat is Review, Review and Reinvent for a brighter future”. The management Board of CMBank is in a new era and it has set a target raising N5bn from shareholders’ fund”.
He further said that “The Bank is also looking at the goal of creating ₦12bn balance sheet by the year 2020. The efforts of the members of staff in dealing with customers will be central to achieving these near future goals”. He implored members of staff to work hard to help the Bank grow.
The Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Ayinde Tukur, said, growing deposit base of the bank would help to realize the goal. According to him, having reached the present height of ₦4bn deposit base, the 2020 agenda would not be difficult.
Also, at the retreat, the Bank launched its own ATM card. The Managing director of the Finese Management Consultant and Shareholder, Mrs Dupe Akindeko, said that with the new initiative, CMBank have the advantage to hasten its growth in the industry.

Cooperative Mortgage Bank in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, on Thursday, April 12, and Friday April 13, donated food and other items to seven children’s home in the city.
The Communication and Public Relations Officer of the bank, Mrs Afolabi Olufunmilayo, who made the disclosure to the Nigerian Tribune, said that the gesture was an affirmation of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
According to her, the donated food and other items to the selected homes in Ibadan was a way of giving back to the society.
Acknowledging the act of reciprocity, a beneficiary of one of the homes, Pastor Ololade Ademolekun of Jesu Kids, appealed to other corporate bodies in the state as well as many Nigerians to emulate the Bank, by giving succor to orphans and underprivileged children in the society.

Cooperative Mortgage Bank Limited has been elected to represent Africa on the seven-member board of the International Cooperative Banking Association.
A statement signed by the Head, Communication and Public Relations for cooperative mortgage bank, Mrs. Afolabi Olufunmilayo, said the bank was elected during the International Cooperative Alliance Conference held in Kigali, Rwanda recently,
The statement added that ICBA was an arm of ICA, which has one of the largest non-governmental organizations with the largest number, measuring up to 12 billion cooperative members from 109 countries. It stated further the aim of the association was to support cooperative movement all over the world.
It said “Given this, Cooperative Mortgage Bank has put Nigeria on the global map of cooperative societies and this came as a result of the collaboration between Federal Department of Cooperatives, Cooperative Federation of Nigeria and CMB to reposition the cooperative movement in Nigeria, which has potential membership of over 20 million.
CMB since its inception over 25 years ago has dedicated itself to providing solutions to housing needs in Nigeria by providing quality and affordable houses with ease of payment for cooperatives. The vision is to make every cooperator a homeowner by creating durable, quality, and affordable houses for all.
Representing Africa on the board is an avenue to foster rapid development in the housing sector in Nigeria and Africa at large as housing has been a major problem in Africa. With this new development, Nigeria and Africa will soon be at a peak in terms of sustainable housing for all.

Cooperative Mortgage Bank has entered into an agreement with the Shell Staff Cooperative Investment and Thrift Society Ltd on the delivery of upscale housing estate at Banana Island, Lagos,
A statement signed by the Head, Communications, and Public Relations Department, Cooperative Mortgage Bank, Mrs. Afolabi Olufunmilayo, indicated this.
Speaking at the foundation laying of the project, Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Kabir Ayinde-Tukur, stated that the job had been contracted to Coop Property Development Company Ltd and that work would commence on the project soon.
He added that it would be completed in two years. The statement added that the Director, Federal Department of Cooperatives, Idris Sani, said Nigerians should be entitled to live decent lives away from under the bridges and paying exorbitant rent given the abundant opportunities in the housing sector
Sani said, “For several decades, the country had been facing numerous challenges posed by the lack of adequate housing for the people. The only way out of the present housing deficit in the country is for Nigerians to be more focused and determined to tap into the nation’s abundant resources for improved livelihood.”
The President of Shell Staff Cooperative, Mr. Akintomide Akinrotimi, said that the cooperative began operation in 1989 and had partnered Cooperative Mortgage Bank on a housing deal before now, which was the delivery of a housing estate in Port Harcourt.
Akinrotimi said the Lagos project valued at N8bn, comprised 32 units of four-bedroom flats and four penthouses.
Speaking on the project, the Chairman on the occasion, Mr. Bayo Ojulari, who is the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, called for a free hand for the developer to execute the project.
